Shiatsu Massage
Renewing bodywork that connects body, mind and spirit.
A reminder for the body to rest and relax.
Certified Shiatsu massage at Turtle Power Fitness is offered to support your physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Its restorative properties not only help your body recover — reducing aches, pains, soreness, stiffness and tightness — but also create a more open connection between your body and your emotions as stress and tension are released. ‘Ry, your Shiatsu therapist, is a graduate of Chinese medicine and massage therapy through Zen Shiatsu Chicago and integrates your health history with your immediate concerns to create a holistic, relaxing experience during your massage.
What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a hands-on treatment that relieves muscle aches and pains, like massage, and also relieves internal organ issues, like acupuncture. That means it helps with things like sleep, digestion, immune system issues, and mental and emotional health, as well as helping with musculoskeletal pains and injuries. During a treatment, there will be relaxing touch along your arms, legs, belly, back and shoulders, as well as your face and neck if you’re comfortable with that.
The work is as deep or as light as you’re comfortable with, and will be adjusted according to your needs during the session. Shiatsu should always feel relaxing. During the treatment, you’ll wear comfortable clothing like a soft shirt and sweatpants.
Why Shiatsu at TPF?
“Shiatsu is a beautiful form of bodywork that supports people in learning how to rest, recover, release and receive. Shiatsu, much like Qi Gong, is based on Chinese Medicine, which integrates physical, emotional and spiritual health. I've always wanted to frame the conversation around what it means to be ‘healthy’ in that way. Offering Shiatsu allows me to approach wellness with an understanding that body, mind and spirit are all connected.”
